Norway is a kingdom in Northern Europe to the west side of the Scandinavian Peninsula. Most of the country shares a border to the east with Sweden, to the north by Finland and Russia to the east. Norway has a rugged coastline cut by huge fjords and islands, it is slightly larger than Germany but most of this land is mountainous, and has numerous glaciers and waterfalls.
Due to the Gulf Stream Norway gets warmer temperatures and more rain (or snow) than is usually expected for the northern latitude. The northernmost part of Norway has a sub-arctic climate and around Svalbard an Arctic tundra climate. The lowlands around Oslo have the warmest and sunniest summers, but also cold winters. North of the Arctic Circle the sun never goes beneath the horizon (hence the Land of the Midnight Sun.)
